How SyncNest Uses Google Data

Last Updated: August 23, 2026

SyncNest connects with Google Calendar and Google Classroom to help families keep schoolwork, assignments, and schedules organized in one place.

This page explains exactly what SyncNest accesses from Google, why we access it, what we do with it, and what happens to Google information after it is imported into SyncNest.

We believe you should know exactly what happens to your data before connecting your Google account.

1. Google Services SyncNest Uses

SyncNest currently integrates with:

  • Google Calendar
  • Google Classroom

These integrations are optional. You do not need to connect a Google account to use SyncNest's core family-organization features.

Google Calendar

2. What SyncNest Accesses From Google Calendar

When you manually choose to sync your Google Calendar, SyncNest scans your Google Calendar for events.

For each event that SyncNest imports, SyncNest uses the following information:

  • Event name
  • Event date
  • Event start time
  • Event end time

SyncNest does not need to continuously monitor your Google Calendar.

Manual synchronization

Google Calendar synchronization is manual.

SyncNest does not continuously scan your Google Calendar in the background. Instead, you must press the "Sync" button in SyncNest to initiate a synchronization.

When you press the button, SyncNest requests the relevant calendar information from Google and checks whether those events are already present in your SyncNest calendar.

Events that are not already present may then be added to your SyncNest calendar.

3. Why SyncNest Uses Google Calendar Data

SyncNest uses Google Calendar data solely to provide the calendar synchronization feature.

For example, if you have an event in Google Calendar such as:

  • "Parent-Teacher Conference"

SyncNest can import the event into your SyncNest calendar so that it can be viewed alongside your family's other schedules.

The purpose of accessing this information is to make it easier for families to manage their schedules without manually recreating every event.

4. What Happens to Imported Calendar Data?

SyncNest does not store a complete copy of your Google Calendar.

Instead, when you synchronize your calendar, SyncNest may store the information necessary to create the corresponding SyncNest calendar event, such as:

  • Event name
  • Date
  • Start time
  • End time

Once imported, the event becomes a SyncNest calendar item and can be used by SyncNest's normal calendar features.

Because synchronization is manual, SyncNest does not automatically receive new Google Calendar information unless you initiate another synchronization.

Google Classroom

5. What SyncNest Accesses From Google Classroom

SyncNest can connect to Google Classroom to help turn schoolwork into actionable tasks.

When you use Google Classroom synchronization, SyncNest may access information necessary to identify:

  • Coursework and assignments
  • Assignment names
  • Assignment due information
  • Classroom announcements
  • Information necessary to identify whether an assignment has been completed

SyncNest uses this information to extract useful organizational information rather than attempting to reproduce Google Classroom inside SyncNest.

6. Turning Classroom Assignments Into Tasks

One of the primary purposes of the Google Classroom integration is to turn schoolwork into tasks.

For example, if Google Classroom contains an assignment such as:

  • "Complete Chapter 5 Questions — Due Friday"

SyncNest can extract the relevant information and create a task in the SyncNest checklist.

The resulting SyncNest task may contain information such as:

  • Task name
  • Due date
  • Other information necessary to organize the task

The original Google Classroom assignment itself is not stored as a complete copy in SyncNest.

7. Turning Classroom Announcements Into Calendar Events

SyncNest can also identify relevant information from Google Classroom announcements and use it to create events in your SyncNest calendar.

For example, an announcement about an upcoming school activity may be converted into a calendar event.

The purpose of this processing is to help families see important school information alongside their other SyncNest schedules.

8. Completing Assignments From SyncNest

SyncNest can provide a two-way interaction for certain Google Classroom assignments.

If an assignment is imported into SyncNest as a task and you check that task off as completed in SyncNest, SyncNest may use Google Classroom's functionality to mark the corresponding assignment as completed in Google Classroom.

This allows you to manage schoolwork from your SyncNest checklist without having to manually mark the same assignment complete in both places.

SyncNest only performs this action when the corresponding feature is used and the necessary Google permissions have been granted.

9. What SyncNest Stores

SyncNest does not store your Google Calendar or Google Classroom account as a complete copy.

Instead, SyncNest stores the organizational information that it extracts and needs to provide its features.

For example:

  • Google Classroom

Google Classroom assignment → SyncNest extracts the assignment information → SyncNest creates a task → The resulting SyncNest task is stored.

Google Calendar

Google Calendar event → SyncNest extracts the relevant event information → SyncNest creates a calendar event → The resulting SyncNest event is stored.

The original Google service data is not reproduced in its entirety inside SyncNest.

10. Google Data Is Not Used for Advertising

SyncNest does not sell Google user data.

Google Calendar and Google Classroom data obtained through Google APIs is not used to create advertising profiles or to determine which advertisements you should receive.

SyncNest does not use Google user data for advertising purposes.

11. Google Data Is Not Used for Unrelated Purposes

SyncNest only uses Google data for purposes related to the Google integration features you choose to use.

For example:

Google Calendar data is used to synchronize calendar events.

Google Classroom data is used to create SyncNest tasks and calendar events and, where applicable, update assignment completion.

Information extracted from these services may be used to provide SyncNest reminders and notifications.

SyncNest does not use Google data for unrelated purposes.

12. SMS Notifications and Twilio

SyncNest may send reminders and notifications by SMS.

SyncNest uses Twilio as an SMS delivery provider.

If a task or event originated from Google Calendar or Google Classroom, information derived from that Google data may be included in a notification sent to you.

For example, if SyncNest imports a school assignment with a due date, SyncNest may send an SMS reminder such as a notification about that upcoming task.

In these circumstances, the minimum information reasonably necessary to deliver the notification may be processed by Twilio.

Twilio is used to provide SMS delivery and is not used by SyncNest to advertise to you based on your Google data.

13. We Do Not Sell Google Data

SyncNest does not sell, rent, or trade Google user data.

We do not use Google Calendar or Google Classroom data to build advertising profiles.

We only share or transfer information when reasonably necessary to provide a feature you have requested, operate SyncNest, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, or otherwise as permitted by applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

14. Your Google Account Remains Yours

Connecting Google Calendar or Google Classroom to SyncNest does not transfer ownership of your Google account or Google data to SyncNest.

Your Google account remains under your control.

SyncNest receives access only to the Google information necessary for the features you authorize.

You can review the permissions that Google has granted to SyncNest through your Google Account settings.

15. Manual Synchronization

SyncNest's Google synchronization is designed around user-initiated actions.

For Google Calendar, you must press the "Sync" button to request a synchronization.

SyncNest does not continuously monitor your Google Calendar waiting for new events.

Because synchronization is initiated manually, SyncNest cannot retrieve new Google Calendar information through this synchronization feature unless you initiate another sync.

Google Classroom synchronization similarly occurs when you use the applicable SyncNest functionality.

16. Disconnecting Google

At this time, SyncNest does not provide a separate in-app button for disconnecting a Google account.

However, Google synchronization is not continuously running in the background.

For Google Calendar, SyncNest accesses your calendar when you initiate a synchronization.

If you want to prevent SyncNest from accessing your Google account, you can revoke SyncNest's access through your Google Account's third-party connections and permissions.

Revoking Google's authorization prevents SyncNest from obtaining additional Google data through that authorization.

Previously imported information may remain in your SyncNest account because it has already been converted into SyncNest tasks or calendar events. Removing previously imported SyncNest information may require deleting the corresponding SyncNest tasks or events.

17. Security

SyncNest takes reasonable measures to protect information processed through its Google integrations.

Google authentication and authorization are handled through Google's authorization systems.

SyncNest does not ask you to provide your Google password to SyncNest.

You should only authorize SyncNest through Google's official authorization process.

No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so you should use a strong password and protect access to your SyncNest and Google accounts.

18. Limited Use of Google Data

SyncNest's use of information received from Google APIs complies with Google's applicable API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

SyncNest uses Google user data only to provide or improve user-facing features that are visible and directly related to the functionality described on this page.

SyncNest does not use Google user data for advertising.

SyncNest does not sell Google user data.

SyncNest does not transfer Google user data to third parties except where necessary to provide or improve the user-facing functionality of SyncNest, comply with applicable law, or as otherwise permitted under Google's applicable policies.

Any service provider that processes information on SyncNest's behalf is permitted to process that information only as necessary to provide the applicable service.

19. Your Choices

You can choose whether to use Google integrations in SyncNest.

You can also choose whether to initiate synchronization when a manual synchronization feature is available.

If you do not want SyncNest to receive additional Google data, do not initiate synchronization and/or revoke SyncNest's authorization through your Google Account.

You can also delete SyncNest tasks and calendar events that were created from imported information, subject to SyncNest's normal account and data-retention policies.
